Sandbach is a town and civil parish in Cheshire. It was granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1579, and markets are still held every Thursday in and around the Town Hall and on Scotch Common. In the cobbled market square are two stone Saxon Crosses, which are to commemorate the arrival of Christianity to the area. West of Sandbach are the Sandbach Flashes, 14 separate pools which have been designated areas of Special Scientific Interest, due to their unusual mixture of salt and fresh waters.
